Macklowe Properties appears to be a big fan of grids, at least when it comes to the developer’s Midtown East towers.
New renderings of 200 East 59th Street show a 35-floor condominium tower with wrap-around terraces that define the building’s facade — a series of glass rectangles sandwiched between white terrace floors. Nearby is Macklowe’s 432 Park Avenue, whose grate-like facade was inspired by a trash bin.
New York YIMBY published the renderings on Friday, based on EB-5 materials. The new images are the first that show the full CetraRuddy-designed tower, which will have 67 units across 99,848 square feet. The 14,861 square-foot retail space at the building’s base shows a continued affinity for geometric patters, with a metallic facade inspired by a woven basket. The project is expected to cost $278 million and is slated to be completed by the end of 2017. [YIMBY] — Kathryn Brenzel
