Authorities are investigating some groups who have donated to a nonprofit started by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office has subpoenaed Park Developers & Builders, a firm that donated $20,000 to Adams’ One Brooklyn fund and bid to demolish a Bedford-Stuyvesant nursing home and replace it with a residential building.
According to the New York Post, its partner on the deal to demolish the nursing home was Allure Group, the target of federal, state and city probes related to the shady $116 million sale of a nursing home in the Lower East Side to developers Slate Property Group, China Vanke and Adam America Real Estate.
Broadway Stages, a group that is also being investigated in connection with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s fundraising activities, also contributed up to $20,000 to Adams’ nonprofit.
The mayor’s now-defunct Campaign for One New York is at the center of state and federal probes into whether de Blasio used the fund to skirt campaign contribution limits. The Real Deal reported in February that some of the fund’s top donors came from the real estate industry. Developers gave more than $1 million to the fund between 2014 and mid-2015.
In October, Park Developers, based out of Sunset Park, filed permit applications for a 241-unit residential building at 270 Nostrand Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant. [NYP] — Kathryn Brenzel
