As the practice director of fertility clinic CCRM New York, Dr. Brian Levine spends his days helping people conceive children. But over the past couple of years, he’s also dabbled in the world of Manhattan real estate.
When the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine decided to open a New York clinic, Levine was determined that the location be as central as possible. Of course, finding the right space for a fully functioning reproductive medical facility in Midtown Manhattan was no small task. Levine said that they “spent over a year looking at more than 40 buildings,” before their brokers at JLL found the right spot for them.
In June 2015, CCRM signed a lease for 17,000 square feet of space on the 21st floor of SL Green Realty’s office building at 810 Seventh Avenue. That fall, architecture firm Perkins+Will filed plans to convert the space into consultation rooms and clinical space. The clinic opened its doors earlier this month.
In its completed form, the space includes a number of features that you won’t find in your average Midtown skyscraper, including an HVAC system built into the walls to keep the air pure in the clinical laboratory, and a fully functional operating room.
“I’d be hard-pressed to find an operating room in America that’s above the 21st floor,” said Levine.
