The Donald may not be the only Trump to try his hand at political office.
Donald Trump Jr. said he wouldn’t rule out running for New York City mayor after, of course, he finishes helping his father run for president, the New York Post reported. He reiterated to CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that he’d “love” to take a crack at the mayorship.
“As my father has always said, I want to — we always like to keep our options open,” he told CNN. “So if I can do that as a service to our country I’d love to do it.”
The possibility of a Mayor Trump started floating around after Trump Jr. [TRData] spoke at the Republican National Convention last week. His speech was touted by Republicans, and Trump Jr. told the New York Post that he was excited by the prospect of having “a platform like that to speak my voice.”
Currently, Trump Jr. serves as executive vice president of the Trump Organization. He’s occasionally found himself in the role of defender when it comes to his father. Last year, he defended his father’s proposal to ban Muslims from the U.S. On Sunday, he bashed claims that Russia is aiding the elder Trump’s campaign. [NYP] — Kathryn Brenzel
