A townhouse that is often referred to as the “Pumpkin House” for its vague resemblance to a jack-o’-lantern can now be yours for $5.2 million.
The home, a cliffside townhouse at 16 Chittenden Avenue, has hit the market six years after its owner tried to sell it for $3.9 million, the New York Post reported. Caleb Hill Smilgin and Simone Song of Simone Song Properties are handling the listing.
The townhouse earned its name from its orange pallor and windows that form a sort of robotic-looking face — interpreted by some to look like a jack-o-lantern. The home overlooks the Henry Hudson Parkway, offering “breathtaking views,” but “it needs a lot of work,” Song told the Post. The three-story, brick home spans 3,144 square feet and is currently configured for two families.
Interior designer William Spink bought the home for $1.1 million in 2000. He previously listed the home for $3.9 million in 2010, but the price was ultimately cut down to $3.1 million before he took it off the market. According to a story by the Wall Street Journal at the time, the home has only ever had four owners since it was built in the 1920s. [NYP] — Kathryn Brenzel
