Ian Reisner seems to be doing some belated spring cleaning. Just a month after selling the long-term lease on the gay hotel he co-founded, the hotelier has sold one of his condo units at 230 Central Park South for $12.6 million.
The unit spans the entire 12th floor of the 18-floor building, created through the combination of six individual units that together span roughly 5,000 square feet. The condo has been featured in various television shows and movies, including “30 Rock,” “Vinyl” and “Did you hear about the Morgans?”
Pamela O’Connor, of Sotheby’s International Realty [TRDataCustom], said the apartment had been marketed as either two separate units — one with two bedrooms and another with three — or as a full-floor unit. The buyer, who is hidden by an LLC, chose the latter, she said. The apartment is gutted and renovations will cost an estimated $2 million, depending on the buyer’s choice of finishes, she said. O’Connor and Rebecca Cavallaro of Sotheby’s handled the listing. The initial asking price for the apartment was $13.4 million.
Reisner, co-founder of New York’s first gay hotel OUT, owns multiple units at 230 Central Park South. He’s currently in contract to sell a penthouse in the building for $11.9 million.
The New York Post reported earlier this month that Merchants Hospitality bought out the long-term lease of the OUT Hotel for $40 million and plans to end its days as a gay-themed hotel.
