Empire State Realty Trust inked a deal with Hawaiian eatery Sweetcatch Poke Bar at 501 Seventh Avenue, according to a spokesperson for the real estate investment trust.
Sweetcatch has inked a 10-year lease for approximately 2,000 square feet at the Times Square South building. Asking rents for the space were around $85 per square foot.
The restaurant is just one of a handful of new eateries popularizing fresh poke (pronounced poh-kay), a diced raw tuna dish with Asian-flavored dressings. Thomas Durels, executive vice president at ESRT, called it a “a healthy, convenient and popular concept.”
The location will be Sweetcatch’s second in Manhattan. It has another poke place at 642 Lexington Avenue.
Jarrett Sharp of Murro Realty represented Sweetcatch in the deal. ESRT was represented in house by Fred Posniak and Shanae Ursini. The Seventh Avenue building is already home to Potbelly Sandwich Shop and Chipotle.
One of Sweetcatch’s owners is Bobby Kwak, who founded popular Korean barbecue spot Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong.
