Nursing home owner Leopold Friedman purchased three adjacent elder care facilities on New Jewish Home’s University Heights campus in the Bronx for $110 million, according to property records filed with the city Friday.
The facilities are part of the nonprofit New Jewish Home’s complex at 100 West Kingsbridge Road, 2553 University Avenue and 2545 University Avenue respectively, and together span more than 500,000 square feet, records show.
The campus, bounded by Webb and University avenues, includes several additional Jewish Home facilities including the Kittay House and the Weinberg Gardens, and at least one other building owned by the nonprofit, and includes an adult day care center, assisted living facilities and a senior housing community.
New Jewish Home, a UJA-Federation network agency with a $285 million budget, was reportedly previously in talks with SentosaCare, one of New York’s largest nursing home networks, over the sale of the properties.
New Jewish Home was not immediately available for comment.
In May, Friedman’s 385-bed Bronx nursing home Citadel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Kingsbridge was awarded $30 million in state funds for the next 30 years.
