Bushwick residents are working to bring a delayed rezoning plan in the neighborhood back to life.

Community group the Bushwick Community Plan is slated to hold a town hall meeting later this month, DNAinfo reported. The workshop will offer residents an opportunity to provide input on how they think the neighborhood should look in the future.

The rezoning plan has been on the cards since 2013, after the city approved the Rheingold Brewery rezoning.

Yoel Goldman’s All Year Management is planning to develop a 1 million-square-foot rental complex on the former brewery site. The complex will have 800 to 900 apartments, and is designed by Gramercy-based architect firm ODA New York [TRDataCustom]. Simon Dushinksy’s Rabsky Group is also planning a 400,000-square-foot, 500-unit building just north of the site at 10 Montieth Street.

The plan would include new zoning codes aiming to preserve the neighborhood’s character, and limit the developers’ ability to build towers on low-rise blocks, according to DNAinfo. It also aims to create opportunities for more affordable housing.

In September, city officials abruptly ended a public hearing on Rabsky Group’s proposed redevelopment of the former Pfizer site in Williamsburg amid a protest from locals.  [DNAinfo]Miriam Hall
