Sharp-tongued writer Fran Lebowitz is the buyer of an apartment at the Chelsea Mercantile at 252 Seventh Avenue, per city records. She paid $3.1 million for the unit.

According to the listing, with Michael Rubin and Cameron Culver of Core, the condo was last listed for $3.4 million, and has one bedroom and two bathrooms (plus an additional sleeping area). It has 13.5-foot ceilings, a huge living room, a 20-foot wall of windows and a master suite with a spa-like bathroom. The building also offers a 10,000-square-foot roof deck and maid and dry cleaning services.

Lebowitz has been a New York institution since she was first hired by Andy Warhol to write for Interview magazine in the 1970’s. She is a fixture on Vanity Fair’s “Best Dressed” list, and a contributing editor to the magazine.

She has been an outspoken critic of the mostly-empty apartments on Billionaire’s Row, saying last year that the city should fill them with homeless people.
