The story of one of architecture’s most famous houses is getting the silver screen treatment. Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges has been cast as modernist architect Mies van der Rohe in a feature film about the creation of Farnsworth House.
The film will follow the relationship between Mies and his client, Chicago nephrologist Edith Farnsworth, played by Maggie Gyllenhaal. It will look at the design and construction of the glass-box house, according to Dezeen.
A release date for the film has not yet been announced.
Farnsworth House was built from steel and glass between 1945 and 1951 as a one-room weekend retreat for Farnsworth outside Chicago. [Dezeen] —Christopher Cameron
