Renderings unveiled for Union Square Tech Hub

RAL Development Services revealed renderings for its 258,000-square foot project on the site of the P.C. Richard & Son store in Union Square.

The city’s Economic Development Corporation tapped RAL, headed by Robert Levine, to develop the city-owned site at 124 East 14th Street late last year.  The anchor tenant will be Civic Hall, and there will be 58,000 square feet of flexible workspace for growth-stage tech companies, with shorter-term lease options ranging from six months to five years, DNAinfo reported. There will also be a 36,500-square-foot tech-training center that will have event space, classrooms and breakout spaces, according to the website.

The $250 million, Davis Brody Bond-designed project was first announced in 2015.

“This new hub will be the front-door for tech in New York City,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement cited by the website.

Elsewhere in the city, RAL [TRDataCustom] partnered with Oliver Realty Group to pay $110 million to lease land for its Brooklyn Bridge Park residential development. The companies plan to build two properties on the site — a 28-story, 160-unit condominium building and a 14-story, 140-unit rental building.
