UPDATED: Wednesday, March 29 at 12:31 p.m.: Developer Abraham Brach and Parkview Management plan to build a mixed-use apartment building at Pfizer’s former site on Gerry Street in South Williamsburg, according to documents filed with the city’s Department of Buildings.
Parkview, led by Juda Klein, filed plans on Friday for a 41-unit apartment building at 58 Gerry Street. Parkview’s Ben Frances told The Real Deal that the company has an ownership stake in the project and will serve as general contractor. He described the development as “upscale religious housing” for the Orthodox Jewish community. He wouldn’t specify the size of the company’s investment in the project, and Brach couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
The seven-story development will include 85,611 square feet of residential space and another 15,108 square feet for commercial. The site was home to a three-story warehouse, and Parkview filed demolition permits earlier this month.
TRD reported in January that Brach purchased the site for $27.5 million. The property was the last piece of Pfizer’s Broadway Triangle, the former site of the pharmaceutical giant’s headquarters. Simon Dushinsky and Isaac Rabinowitz’s Rabsky Group is planning to build a 1 million-square-foot rental complex across the street from Brach’s property.
Brach also considered building a large religious housing development on the former Cascade Linen factory site in Bedford-Stuyvesant, but last month opted to do luxury condos.
Correction: A prior version of this story mischaracterized the plans for the Cascade Linen factory site. Brach originally planned religious housing at the site, but last month decided it would be luxury condos instead.
