Veteran air rights broker Robert Shapiro of City Center Real Estate celebrated his 55th year in the New York property business with a lunchtime bash at the Rainbow Room.
There to celebrate Shapiro were many of the city’s biggest developers and landlords, including Harry Macklowe, Michael Ring, Laurence Friedland and Eugene Grant as well as top lawyers such as Richard Weidman, Jonathan Mechanic and Jonathan Adelsberg. One of the city’s most active lobbyists, James Capalino, was spotted chatting with Macklowe. Paul Massey, mayoral candidate and investment sales broker, walked the room, full of familiar faces.
Not everyone had 30-plus years in the business. Younger players, such as Lightstone Group’s assemblage executive Meir Milgraum, Thor Equities’ Marc Effren and Corigin Real Estate’s Ian Klein, were also in attendance. And the cake, of course, was a building skyline. (Photos by Adam Pincus for The Real Deal)
