The Real Deal’s tenth annual New York showcase and forum brought together some of the biggest names in real estate, especially the day’s main event — a throw down between the Corcoran Group CEO Pam Liebman and Douglas Elliman chairman Howard Lorber.
The heads of Manhattan’s two top residential brokerages exchanged blows on their bottom lines, Elliman’s spending spree and the pitfalls of new development. One thing the pair seemed to agree on? Compass, and the startup brokerage’s aggressive recruiting tactics.
In a discussion moderated by publisher Amir Korangy, Liebman and Lorber went at it hammer and tongs, trading jabs and praise, and defending their respective business strategies.
