UPDATED, 11:38 a.m., June 5: Hundreds of new affordable housing units could be on their way to the Bronx.

Tony Savarese’s company Sav Enterprises filed plans with the Department of Buildings on Friday to construct a 15-story building with 319 units of affordable housing at 1932 Bryant Avenue in West Farms, a neighborhood just north of the Cross Bronx Expressway. The nonprofit Second Farms Neighborhood Housing Development Fund owns the land, and the Association of New York Catholic Homes is developing the project.

The building would span 296,722 square feet — with 12,075 square feet of commercial space, 9,011 square feet for a community facility and 275,636 square feet of residential space, according to a new permit application.

The land currently houses a vacant garage, which would be demolished, and the building will feature noise attenuated windows because it is right next to an elevated train stop, according to Association of New York Catholic Homes Executive Director Susan Albrecht. Work on the project should begin in January.

Sav Enterprises is also working on an affordable housing project in the Bronx at 1180 Fulton Avenue, the former site of St. Augustine Catholic Church. It is slated to be 12 stories tall and hold 112 apartments.
