House that inspired Stephen King novel is a steal

The house that inspired Stephen King’s novel “Pet Sematary” is up for sale in Maine.

The 113-year-old, four-bedroom Orrington house sits on three acres about 15 minutes south of Bangor. It’s on the market for just $255,000, according to the Associated Press.

And for true horror buffs, it is worth noting that the house didn’t only inspire the creepy thriller, it is where King wrote the story.

In 1979, King was renting the house when his daughter’s cat was killed by a truck. The local children created a pet cemetery in the woods behind the house, inspiring King.

Released in 1983, the novel was adapted into a movie in 1989.  [AP]Christopher Cameron
