The New York City Department of Sanitation Has A New Place to scatter trash cans. The agency inked a 20-year lease for 72,180 square feet at the Verizon Tower at 375 Pearl Street.
The deal had been in the works for a while, but earlier this year the New York Post reported that it was one of several leases put on hold by City Hall. Now it finally got the green light, according to the Commercial Observer.
The department will move out of its current digs at 137 Centre Street in early 2018. Sabey Data Corp. bought the 32-story, 1.1-million-square-foot office tower for $120 million in 2011 and is renovating it.
Cushman & Wakefield represented the city while CBRE represented the landlord. The Human Resources Administration and the Department of Finance both inked big lease deals at the tower earlier this year. [CO] — Konrad Putzier
