From LLNYC: This calls for tequila shots! Juan Beckmann Vidal, the majority owner of José Cuervo tequila, has just listed his sprawling unit in The Plaza for $35 million.
Beckmann Vidal and his wife Maria de Jesus Dora Legorreta Santos paid almost $23 million for the apartment in 2008 under the LLC DJ Condo, according to property records.
The unit only has two bedrooms and three bathrooms, but what it lacks in rooms, it makes up for in views and outside space. According to the listing, with Elizabeth Sample and Brenda Powers of Sotheby’s International Realty, it comes with an 82-by-5.9-foot terrace that spans the entire 21st floor of the hotel. Sample and Powers did not immediately respond to request for comment.
This home is not the only apartment Beckmann Vidal owns in New York; according to Bloomberg, he also owns three units in Trump Tower. He was about to close on a unit at 432 Park Avenue until a “catastrophic flood” destroyed the apartment, prompting him to sue developer Harry Macklowe and CIM Group in February to get his $11 million deposit back.
Beckmann Vidal’s family has owned José Cuervo since it was founded in 1795. His son, Jose Domingo Beckmann, currently serves as its CEO. According to Forbes, the family is worth about $5.5 billion.
