UPDATED, 9:09 a.m. Sept. 15: A 40,000-square-foot vacant lot on the outskirts of Queens is slated to make way for a new office building thanks to a food supply company.
Jetro Restaurant Depot, which provides supplies to independent food businesses, filed plans with the Department of Buildings on Thursday to construct a four-story office building and a four-story parking garage in College Point. The office would be located at 17-10 Whitestone Expressway, while the garage would be at 17-16 Whitestone Expressway.
The office building would house the company’s corporate headquarters, span 70,980 square feet and stand 57 feet tall, while the garage will span more than 48,000 square feet and have space for 262 cars.
Jetro purchased the property and an adjacent lot through an LLC in 2016 for $12.4 million. The company expects to begin construction in November or December.
Other recent nearby deals include the $19 million sale of Calvary World Mission Church in Flushing to a New Jersey-based real estate firm and Pinncale Group’s purchase of two elevator buildings at 132-40 and 133-17 Sanford Avenue for $57.6 million.
This post has been updated to include more information from Jetro about the project.
