Bad vibrations: Mark Wahlberg’s burger chain struggling at NYC locations
Wahlburgers is facing difficulties on Coney Island and in Times Square
Mark Wahlberg’s burger chain is not doing quite as well as his acting career.
The celebrity’s family restaurant Wahlburgers has been struggling in New York. Earlier this month, it closed its location on Coney Island and is also facing problems with its attempt to open a burger joint in Times Square, according to the New York Post.
In 2015, the burger chain leased 8,300 square feet of space at Thor Equities’ retail condo at 725 Eighth Avenue, but the restaurant still has not opened and is reportedly behind on rent. At Coney Island, the burger chain was reportedly not paying its bills or its staff.
A Wahlburgers representative told the Post that the restaurant closed its Coney Island location at 3015 Stillwell Avenue “due to a number of factors” and plans to reopen the franchise. The chain also said it remains committed to opening in Times Square. [NYP] – Eddie Small
