Beyoncé and Jay Z are in the home-buying groove. The couple dropped $25.9 million for a secluded mansion in East Hampton, near the very desirable Georgia Pond, according to Business Insider. Their new 12,000-square-foot mansion has five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and a guesthouse with two bedrooms and 200 feet of waterfront on Georgica Pond. Architect Stanford White designed the nearly century-old house. East Hampton looks to purchase of Star Room property in Wainscott
The Town of East Hampton and a group of residents have banded together to bid on a vacant property once home to the Star Room nightclub. A proposal to build a car wash there angered residents concerned about traffic and pollution, according to 27East. The town board has proposed purchasing the 1.1-acre property for $2.1 million and letting the land return to its natural state. The property is in foreclosure and there is a $2.5 million mortgage on it, the report said. The Georgica Pond Foundation has offered $300,000, which would reduce the town’s portion. Sag Harbor whaling captain’s home asks $6.3M
The 1840s-era Sag Harbor home of a whaling captain that was close to its original condition when it sold four years ago for $1.7 million has been completely renovated and is back on the market for $6.3 million. According to Curbed, the 245 Main Street home, which has leaded glass windows and hand-pegged wood beams, has been updated with central air, smart home technology, a pool and pool house. Southampton estate gets another massive price cut
A massive estate in Southampton that has been on the market since 2009 just had $3.5 million chopped off its asking price. Built in 2002, the 13,000-square-foot estate at 385 Great Plains Road has 10 bedrooms and nine-and-a-half bathrooms and is loaded with lavish details like 10 fireplaces, according to Curbed. It was originally on the market for $27 million in 2009. The asking price was raised to $30 million in 2011 but saw subsequent reductions, including a $3.5 million cut this week, which dropped the ask to $19 million. Prize-winning author Colson Whitehead lands East Hampton home
Colson Whitehead, author of “The Underground Railroad,” which garnered the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award among other honors, is now an East Hamptonite, having recently purchased a sleek, modern home in East Hampton that was last asking $2.3 million, according to Behind the Hedges. Whitehead and his wife, literary agent Julie Barer purchased 107 Swamp Road in the Northwest Woods neighborhood.
