Seoul’s most exclusive and in-demand neighborhood, UN Village, has glamorous neighbors, luxurious villas, central location and beautiful views of the Han River and Nam Mountain, but the true secret of the area’s success on the market comes down to an ancient philosophy: feng shui.
“A good property location must have mountains behind and a river in front, and the UN Village has both, so it is considered the best location,” said Min Suh director of international business development for Century 21 Korea to Global Mansion.
In addition to good feng shui, the housing market in UN Village is guaranteed to sell because of the neighborhood’s exclusivity: there’s only about 800 houses in the area in total.
“We say that area is for the top 1 percent luxury villas, and it’s not really open to the public,” said Suh, adding that most sales are done privately.
Homes in the UN Village start at an average price of almost $3 million, while new villas can go for up to $9 million.
