In New York City, $1 million can get you a condo with sweeping views of the changing fall foliage and also people having sex in public.
The 30-story building at 1485 Fifth Avenue overlooks Marcus Garvey Park, a popular spot for all sorts of activity perhaps most notably, rampant public sex, DNAinfo reports.
“I saw a lot of b—jobs, guys having sex, guys masturbating, I really saw the whole gamut,” said Marie Gelot, who lived in 5th on the Park for five years before moving out in August.
The park is such a popular spot for illicit activities that the New York Police Department often use it for sting operations. Officers would take binoculars up to Gelot’s $1 million apartment to help catch park-goers in various states of undress.
Construction workers noticed the activity when the building was being built. The condo building, developed by Uptown Partners, opened in 2009. One of the most popular spots is just off a footpath leading up to the park’s hill. The footpath is covered with condom wrappers.
“This is ridiculous,” said Joseph Manley, who lives nearby and takes his dog to the park. “I tell them to take that sh–t somewhere else because there are children in the park. The kids see it, the tourists see it, some of them take pictures sometimes.” [DNAinfo] — Kathryn Brenzel
