New York’s real estate titans are front and center on the latest Forbes 400 ranking. This year it takes a net worth of at least $2 billion to make the list, up from $1.7 billion a year ago.
At number 65, Related Companies’ Stephen Ross was the highest ranked New York-based property kingpin. Forbes valued his net worth at $7.5 billion, up about $100 million over last year. Just below him, developer and investor Richard LeFrak took the 85th spot with a net worth of $6.1 billion. President Trump ranked 248th, with his net worth dropping an estimated $600 million to $3.1 billion.
The always-colorful Equity Group Investment chairman Sam Zell landed at 115 with a net worth of $5.1 billion. Sheldon Solow clocked in at 140 and boasts a fortune worth $4.7 billion. Hartz Group CEO Leonard Stern took 150th place and valued at $4.5 billion.
Ben Ashkenazy and Jeff Sutton tied for the 172nd spot, each with a net worth of $4 billion.
Commercial moguls Jerry Speyer – worth $3.9 billion – and Jeff Greene – worth $3.8 billion – took spots 179 and 186. And real estate investor Charles Cohen ranked 266. He’s worth $3.3 billion, per Forbes.
The four siblings behind Solil Management, America’s most valuable, family-run real estate portfolio — Allan and Jane Goldman, Diane Goldman Kemper and Amy Goldman Fowler — tied for 248nd place. Trump and Red Apple Group’s John Catsimatidis also landed at the spot. All are worth $3.1 billion, according to Forbes.
Continuing down the list, Mort Zuckerman landed at 288 with his $2.8 billion fortune. And finally, Two Trees Management’s David Walentas took the final spot of 374 with a net worth of $2.1 billion. [Forbes] — Christopher Cameron
