Two Hamptons homes with ties to Jackie O trade hands

The East End’s connection to Jackie Kennedy Onassis was highlighted in two major real estate transactions this week. The Grey Gardens estate went into contract for the first time in 40 years, according to real estate news site 6sqft. The mansion at 3 West End Road, once home to Onassis’s relatives — “Big Edie” and “Little Edie” Bouvier Beale, the subjects of the 1975 Maysles Brothers documentary “Grey Gardens” — had been marketed for rent for two years and then for sale for seven months. It was last listed at $18 million, according to the Washington Post. The sales price and buyer have not yet been identified but seller Sally Quinn said she’ll be holding an estate sale that will include items that belonged to the eccentric mother-daughter. And the Hamptons home known as “Lasata” where Onassis summered as a child found a buyer at the reduced asking price of $30 million. Tiffany’s chief creative officer Reed Krakoff, who paid $20 million for it in 2007, sold the property, the New York Post reported. The home at 121 Further Lane has six-bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms. Last year, the home was listed for $39 million, but the price was cut in June. [TRD]
