Brooklyn Boulders plans to open its largest gym in the city, in Bushwick.

The chain started in Gowanus in 2009, opened a second location in Long Island City in 2015, is now negotiating to lease 121 Morgan Avenue in Bushwick, according to Crain’s.

The site would be roughly 35,000 square feet, making it the largest Brooklyn Boulders in the city, and the climbing walls could be 40 feet or taller, higher than its Gowanus and Queens locations. However, those plans are contingent on the building landlord Princeton Holdings agreeing to raise parts of the roof.

Brooklyn Boulders co-founder Lance Pinn told Crain’s he wanted to open a Bushwick location to help residents of nearby neighborhoods like Williamsburg and Greenpoint access the facility. He was also motivated by the upcoming L train shutdown.

“People won’t move away because of the shutdown, so the thought is more of them will stay in town to work and play,” he said. [Crain’s]Eddie Small
