Developer behind SkyView Parc isn’t done with Flushing yet

Another mixed-use building is on its way to Flushing from the developer of SkyView Parc.

A team from Onex Real Estate Partners is planning a project with 100 residential units at 144-74 Northern Boulevard, according to permits filed with the city’s Department of Buildings on Thursday. The project, designed by Ismael Leyva Architects, would stand seven stories tall and span about 106,000 square feet, split between 69,000 square feet of residential space, 20,000 square feet of commercial space and about 17,000 square feet of community space.

Onex acquired the ground lease for the development site in November from developer Oz Levi. Levi had also been planning a mixed-use development for the site with 120 apartments and 50,000 square feet of retail and community space, according to New York YIMBY.

The project’s residential units will be 70 percent market-rate and 30 percent affordable. The site currently is home to a Burger King, and the Onex team hopes to compete the project within the next 18 months.

Onex is the developer behind SkyView Parc, one of the most prominent megaprojects in Flushing with roughly 1,200 apartments and an 800,000-square-foot shopping center. The project was close to selling out in October after years of starts and stops.

Developer Chris Jiashu Xu recently sold a waterfront parcel in Flushing for $45 million, and developer Andy Zhu sold a development site in the neighborhood for $115 million.
