Here’s a fun fact: New York State is home to the tiniest island people actually lived on in the entire world.
Appropriately known now as “Just Enough Room Island,” the 3,300-square-foot island, originally named Hub Island, near Alexandria Bay was bought in 1950 to become a vacation home for a wealthy family, the Sizelands, according to the New York Post.
But after a 2010 profile in the Washington Post mentioned the tiny island, press and tourists reportedly began to encircle the already-small getaway.
“The speck of land squeezes a house and a couple of wrought-iron benches pushed hard up against the shingles onto its banks,” wrote Post journalist Andrea Sachs. “One misstep and you’re swimming.”
