Top deal was for 55K sf in Mill Basin, Brooklyn

December’s 10 biggest retail leasing deals were slightly larger than the month prior, checking in at 179,000 square feet, up about 21,000 square feet.

The largest retail lease in December was for a discount apparel store in deep Brooklyn.

Here are the top 10:

1) Burlington Coat Factory, 5100 Kings Plaza, Mill Basin – 55,000 square feet

The discount clothing retailer inked a 10-year lease for 55,000 square feet of retail space at 5100 Kings Plaza, where the company will occupy the 4th floor of the King’s Plaza Shopping Center. Cliff Simon of CNS Real Estate represented the tenant. Macerich Company is the landlord of this Mill Basin building.

2) Genesis, 40 Tenth Avenue, Meatpacking – 40,000 square feet

The South Korean luxury car maker signed a lease for 40,000 square feet at 40 Tenth Avenue. Aurora Capital Associates and William Gottlieb Real Estate are the landlords of this property. It’s one of the priciest retail deals inked in 2017. Genesis is the second luxury car retailer to ink a lease in the neighborhood, alongside Tesla Motors at 860 Washington Street.

3) FAO Schwarz, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Midtown – 19,000 square feet

The toy store inked a lease for 19,000 square feet of retail space at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, also known as the GM Building. Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant in this deal. Tishman Speyer is the landlord of the building.

4) Citibike, 333 Johnson Avenue, East Williamsburg – 18,890 square feet

The privately-owned public bicycle rental business inked a deal for 18,890 square feet of retail space at 333 Johnson Avenue. Andrew Clemens of Ripco Real Estate represented the tenant and the landlord, 333 Johnson Property Holdings, a partnership between Normandy Real Estate Partners, Royalton Capital and Princeton Holdings.

5) TJX Companies, 483 Broadway, Soho – 18,000 square feet

The discount retailer, who is the parent company of T.J. Maxx inked a 15-year lease for 18,000 square feet of retail space at the Soho Building at 483 Broadway. Richard Skulnik of Ripco Real Estate represented the tenant. Aurora Capital Associates and the Adjmi Family are the landlords of the building.

6) Westside Market, 170 West 23rd Street, Chelsea – 8,000 square feet

The food market signed a 20-year lease for 8,000 square feet of retail space at 170 West 23rd Street. Craig N. Slosberg of Newmark Knight Frank represented the tenant, while Fran Delgorio and Brett Greenberg represented the landlord, Jack Resnick & Sons, in-house.

7) Humming Puppy, 119 West 23rd Street, Chelsea – 7,300 square feet

The Australian yoga studio inked a 10-year lease for 7,300 square feet of retail space at 119 West 23rd Street. The asking rent was $50 per square foot. Stephan Brenot of Rice & Associates represented the tenant. Jonathan Bernstein of JBA Real Estate represented the landlord, Stellar Management.

8) Westside Market, 180 Third Avenue, Gramercy – 5,000 square feet

The grocery store inked a lease for 5,000 square feet of retail space at 180 Third Avenue. The tenant, Westside Market, represented themselves in-house. Brett Weinblatt of Solil Management represented the landlord in-house.

9) Kicks USA, 2923 3rd Avenue, Melrose – 4,500 square feet

The show retailer signed a 10-year lease for 4,500 square feet of retail space at 2923 3rd Avenue. Josh Augenbaum of Augenbaum Realty represented the tenant. Michael J. Katz of Kasin Management represented the landlord, MLM Partners of 3rd Avenue.

10) Burger King, 200 East 125th Street, East Harlem – 3,280 square feet

The fast food chain inked a lease for 3,280 square feet of retail space at 200 East 125th Street for a corner division of the former Perkins Restaurant. Mark Tergesen of ABS Partners Real Estate represented the landlord, Parcel C GP.
