The Lower East Side’s development boom continues. Nonprofit Grand Street Guild plans to build a pair of 15-story apartment buildings on Broome Street.
The towers will include 400 below-market rental apartments. Curbed reported that the development will likely replace a daycare center at 151 Broome Street and a parking lot at 178 Broome.
Handel Architects is designing the project, which will be 100 percent affordable and include a garage.
The site sits next door to Essex Crossing, Taconic Investment Partners, L+M Development Partners, BFC Partners, and Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group’s $1.5 billion megadevelopment. [Curbed] — Konrad Putzier
