Anthony Orso, CEO and co-founder of CCRE, is leaving the company he helped start to become president of capital markets strategies at Newmark Knight Frank.

Orso will focus on merging Berkeley Point Capital with ARA, two companies that Newmark recently acquired, and he will also act as the liaison with the CMBS business at Cantor Fitzgerald, according to Newmark. He will serve as an adviser on third-party debt as well.

Newmark CEO Barry Gosin said in a statement that Orso’s hiring demonstrated the company’s “significant commitment to growing our multi-family sales and related debt businesses.”

Orso co-founded CCRE, the commercial real estate lending arm of Cantor Fitzgerald. The company has closed more than $24 billion worth of loans since 2010 and has more than 15 locations across the country. He worked at Credit Suisse before starting CCRE.

Late last year, Newmark filed for a $100 million initial public offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
