Flexible-office provider NYC Office Suites signed a lease for 40,000 square feet at the Rockefeller Center complex.
The company took the entire seventh and part of the eighth floor at Tishman Speyer’s 1270 Sixth Avenue in Midtown, Crain’s reported. Asking rents in the building are in the low-$70s per square foot.
BLACKre founder Sean Black represented NYC Office Suites in the deal. Black founded the brokerage after he was fired from his job as an executive vice president at WeWork in 2016 following disparaging remarks he made about Jersey City, where the company was receiving tax breaks as part of a deal to open a new location there.
While the city’s seen an explosion in recent years of flexible office companies using the shared-space model championed by WeWork, NYC Office Suites follows the more traditional path of carving up offices for businesses and professional-service users. [Crain’s] – Rich Bockmann
