Oxford Nursing Home was unable to get the necessary approvals to move to Red Hook and is now looking for state approval to move to East New York instead.
The 235-bed facility, currently based in Fort Greene, is seeking $70.8 million for the move, which would allow it to modernize the site, according to Crain’s. The new building would be called Oxford Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, and although it would have 200 instead of 235 beds, it would also have a more modern design.
The site’s move to Red Hook faced opposition because it would have been located in a flood zone, potentially endangering its residents, but the East New York site on Linden Boulevard would not need the same approvals. [Crain’s] – Eddie Small
