Long Island City’s hotel dominance is still going strong.
Developer Teddy Li is planning another hotel for the neighborhood at 38-59 11th Street, according to filings with the Department of Buildings. The roughly 54,000-square-foot project will have 116 rooms and stand 16 stories and 179 feet tall.
The site is currently an empty lot spanning 15,100 square feet. Architect Gene Kaufman’s firm is designing the project.
Li, who did not respond to a request for comment, also has a hotel project at 88 Walker Street in Chinatown.
Lightstone Group recently purchased the Hilton Garden Inn at 29-21 41st Avenue in Long Island City for $60 million. An analysis by The Real Deal from November found that developers had planned more than 40 hotel projects in Long Island City dating back to 2010, making the Queens neighborhood the most popular place in the outer boroughs to build hotels by far.
