Kushner finds new American restaurant to replace Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen
The Ribbon takes over 16,500 sf space
It’s out with the Donkey Sauce and in with the Buffalo style cauliflower for Kushner Companies at the old New York Times Building.
The Ribbon, the self-described “best Upper West Side restaurant featuring American cuisine with French and Italian influences,” agreed to lease a 16,500-square-foot retail space, where it will replace Guy Fieri’s unsuccessful take on American comfort food.
Kushner Companies, which owns the retail condo at 220 West 44th Street, had been looking for a tenant after Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen & Bar abruptly closed its doors in December. Fieri had 10 years remaining on the lease at an annual rent of $1.8 million.
A company spokesperson for the Blue Ribbon Group, headed by brothers Bruce and Eric Bromberg, told the New York Post that it is “considering” opening a restaurant in the building.
Kushner bought the building’s 250,000-square-foot retail condo for $296 million in 2015. [NYP] — Konrad Putzier
