The Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations is moving out of United Nations Plaza.
The Mission will move into Fisher Brothers’ 605 Third Avenue, where it has signed a lease for about 50,000 square feet, according to the Commercial Observer. It will leave 866 United Nations Plaza early in 2019 and take up the 27th, 28th and 29th floors at the Fisher Brothers building.
The Japanese government signed a lease for 15 years, and asking rent was in the $70s per square foot, according to CO.
Fisher Brothers built 605 Third Avenue in 1963 and recently finished $25 million worth of renovations at the building, including a new lobby and building entrance. Tenants include Univision, AECOM and Convene, which recently leased about 29,000 square feet in the building. [CO] – Eddie Small
