First Republic Bank will increase its footprint in Rockefeller Center by 130,000 square feet, almost doubling its space.
The bank will now occupy 280,000 square feet across two buildings, after signing a lease for a 100,000-square-foot space on the third and fourth floors of 10 Rockefeller Plaza, according to the New York Post. The medical providers EHE and a Rockefeller wealth management firm are currently on those floors and will move to other parts of the complex.
The bank will also lease an extra 30,000 square feet on the eighth floor of 1230 Avenue of the Americas, where it already occupies 150,000 square feet on the second, third and seventh floors.
Tishman Speyer owns both buildings, and rents in the area can reach as high as $175 a square foot. The real estate firm in January signed publisher Simon & Schuster to a 300,000 square foot lease renewal at 1230 Sixth. Tishman Speyer bought the 763,000-square-foot office tower in 2001 as part of the $1.85 billion deal for Rockefeller Center. [NYP] – Eddie Small
