Long Island City’s hotel boom is not slowing down.
Developer Dun Zhang filed permits with the Department of Buildings on Friday for a 15-story, 385-key hotel in the neighborhood at 37-10 10th Street. The project will span about 100,000 square feet and replace a one-story industrial building.
Zhang did not respond to a request for comment.
Architect Gene Kaufman will design the hotel. He has gained a reputation as one of the most prolific architects in the city, particularly in the budget hotel space, and is also working on projects in the neighborhood for developers Sam Chang and Teddy Li.
Developers had filed plans for 45 new hotels in Long Island City since 2010 as of November, according to an analysis by The Real Deal, making it the most popular outer borough neighborhood for hotels.
Other hotels on their way to the neighborhood include an eight-story 95-key project at 23-15 39th Street from developer Surjeet Kaur and Li’s 16-story 116-room project at 38-59 11th Street.
