Sag Harbor OKs Billy Joel’s home reno plans, noting their “harmony” 
Sag Harbor officials are finally singing Mr. Long Island’s tune. The Sag Harbor Board of Historic Preservation and Architectural Review approved Billy Joel’s plans to combine two structures on his property with a two-story addition and to raise one of those properties up to 30 feet, 27East reported. Town officials previously rejected a plan to raise the structure slightly higher. Four board members, however, approved the latest proposal with one vote against it. Those in favor appreciated Joel’s efforts to not disrupt the area. Dean Gomolka commended the latest plan’s “harmony.” The plan still needs permits from the Village Building Inspector Thomas Preiato. [27east]

Feds to sell Paul Manafort’s Bridgehampton home after its seizure 
The onetime campaign chairman to Donald Trump, Paul Manafort, surrendered his Bridgehampton home and four others in New York City to federal authorities as part of guilty plea on two conspiracy charges in special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation, NBC reported. All told, the homes are worth $21.7 million and will eventually be put on the market. The plea allows Manafort, who recently was convicted on fraud and charges, to keep a Virginia home and millions of dollars. Shortly after leaving the Trump campaign, Manafort took out a mortgage on the Bridgehampton home through a limited liability corporation he created called Summerbreeze, according to Curbed. Federal investigators subpoenaed that mortgage last year. [TRD]

Bayfront Water Mill home lists for $30M
A 6,456-square-foot Midcentury modern-inspired home was just put on the market for $30 million, Curbed reported. Built in 1996, the home has five bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, a double-height living room and hardwood floors. The home was designed by Tod Williams who drew inspiration from local architect Charles Gwathmey. The 2.58-acre property on Mecox Bay also has a tennis court, waterside pool, a 50-foot dock and a lofted guest house. Doreen Atkins of Sotheby’s International Realty is representing the property. Southampton Town plans to buy site where Shinnecock bones were found
Southampton Town officials reached agreement with the owner of a 0.34-acre home construction site where American Indian remains were found to buy and preserve it, Newsday reported. Officials plan to use $50,000 from their Community Preservation fund for the purchase. The plot’s owner is listed as KB Southampton LLC. The Shinnecock Indian Nation believes the remains belong to an ancestor. Tribe members are trying to raise another $50,000 to help cover some of the current owners’ costs. There will be a public hearing on the proposed purchase on Oct. 9. [Newsday]

Westhampton Beach estate goes into contract for $8.9M after years of price cuts
A waterfront home on 4.52 acres along Moriches Bay has gone into contract under its most recent asking price of $8.9 million, down from its original 2013 listing price of $17.5 million, according to Curbed. The property had last sold in 1999 for $2. The Mediterranean-style main home, which was built in 1908, has five ensuite bedrooms, two more bedrooms, a grand foyer of imported marble and five fireplaces. The property has 348 feet of water frontage , a 350-foot driveway, a deep-water dock, two guest houses, a tennis court, heated gunite pool and a cabana.
