Brokers allegedly hid past MS-13 murder from buyers of Brentwood home
When a couple was preparing to buy a four-bedroom suburban ranch house in Brentwood, brokers allegedly obscured the fact that MS-13 gang members murdered two teenage girls there, the New York Post reported. The responsibility to disclose the property’s past was up to the buyers’ broker, according to Oneyda Gallardo of Empire Home Realty of Long Island, which listed the property. The buyers’ broker, Carlos Amaya of Exit Realty Achieve, disputed the couple’s claim and said they were well aware of the murders. The home first came on the market for $377,000, but had its price cut seven times before landing at $329,000 when it went off the market. [TRD]

The Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency closed on a package of incentives for Triple Five Aviation Industries, which closed its $14 million purchase of the former Dowling College campus in Shirley, Long Island Business News reported. The 105-acre property next to Brookhaven Calabro Airport includes a 70,645-square-foot dormitory with 70 rooms, an athletic complex and a 65,000-square-foot building for offices or classrooms with an airplane hanger as well. The buyer hopes to bring corporate research and development firms, aviation schools and recreational flyers, among others. Triple Five plans to spend $2 million on upgrades. [LIBN]

Suffolk legislators block sewer link in blow to Wolkoff’s Heartland development project
Suffolk County’s Public Works Committee decided not to connect the Southwest Sewer District to Heartland Town Square, a Brentwood development, according to Newsday. The project, which is spearheaded by developer Jerry Wolkoff, has 9,000 units, 3.2 million square feet in office space and 1 million square feet of retail space. Wolkoff said that if the project would die without an agreement with the sewer agency. Opponents said the project would deplete the groundwater aquifer and that the project should instead build its own sewage treatment plant. The rejected agreement could still find its way to the full Suffolk Legislature if 10 legislators choose to advance it out of committee. [Newsday]
