ABC Carpet & Home, which has been selling carpets in the city for more than a century, is closing a second location.
The retailer is shutting down its 20,600-square-foot store at 881 Broadway, the New York Post reported. The three-story location will be squeezed onto one floor of ABC’s flagship store across the street at 888 East 19th Street, and 27 employees will be out of the job.
Earlier this year, ABC agreed to sell four of its six floors at its flagship building to Normandy Real Estate Partners for $133 million. Normandy plans to convert the floors into office space.
In 2016, ABC closed a Bronx Warehouse outlet and this past summer shut down a 50,000-square-foot store in Delray Beach, Florida. The company did, however, open a new location in Industry City in Sunset Park last year. [NYP] — Kathryn Brenzel
