Hudson Companies files plans for one of the largest Staten Island projects this year

The is looking to develop a 30K sf residential project at 221 Port Richmond Avenue

Hudson Companies is bringing a 30,000-square-foot residential building to Staten Island, one of the largest projects in the borough this year.

The firm plans to develop for a six-story residential building on 221 Port Richmond Avenue with 48 units, according to a permit application filed to the Department of Buildings this week. The plans call for a mixed-use building with 16,000-square-feet for a community facility.

It’s the second largest plan filed in the borough this year, according to an analysis by The Real Deal.

David Kramer, Hudson Companies’ CEO, was not immediately available for comment.

The borough recently took a hit after its planned drawcard, the $900 million New York Wheel, failed amid infighting and cost overruns.

Hudson Companies has issued a flurry of plans to develop across the city in recent months. In September, the company entered a parntership with two community groups to convert the Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn into a mixed-use development with 512 units of affordable housing and a new building for an existing homeless shelter.

The same week, the firm also filed plans to develop a 152-unit mixed-use building in Cypress Hills. The 12-story development 265 Logan Street will span close to 280,000 square feet.
