Known as Mann House, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1910, Peter John Mann, a real estate entrepreneur, and his wife Anna Lewis Mann built the 62,860-square-foot building to be Portland’s first retirement home.

Over its 109-year history, the big brick house also has been used as a nursing facility, a center for treating alcoholism and, most recently, as a hub for meditation and community activities called the Movement Center.
