Carmelo Anthony might convert a Bronx warehouse into a basketball facility.
The ten-time NBA All-Star met recently with Bronx borough president Ruben Diaz Jr. to discuss plans for the site at 845 East 136 Street in Port Morris, The City reported.
EXR Somerset is representing Anthony. The 94,000-square-foot property is currently seeking an asking rent of $14 to $21 a square foot, according to Loopnet.
The building, which is owned by Tuck-It-Away Associates, is currently unoccupied. Until a year ago, it was a self-storage facility. The site is 10 blocks from a pizza shop, Nobody’s Pizza, which Anthony invested in.
The waterfront neighborhood is quickly gentrifying and receiving investment from landlords. Simon Kaufman’s YS Realty files plans for a roughly 135,000-square-foot building that will stand 14 stories tall at 310 Grand Concourse. Brooklyn investor Shimshon Grunstein inked a 99-year ground lease at 550 Trinity Avenue and 571 Jackson Avenue where he plans to build a multifamily development. [The City] — David Jeans
