The former clubhouse of the Hell’s Angels will soon be home to well-heeled yuppies paying $3,500 for one of the 22 normal East Village apartments, and the investor is betting the building’s past won’t make a difference to potential 20-something renters.

Striking another blow to New York City’s former reputation as a rough-and-tumble metropolis, the motorcycle gang’s storied former headquarters at 77 East Third Street in the East Village formerly known as the “Church of the Angels” is being converted to rental apartments.

Feds were foiled when they tried to take over the building in 1985 after a drug bust when a jury ruled against the move.

After the gang reportedly bought the clubhouse for $10 in 1977, commercial real estate investor Nathan Blatter of Whitestone Realty Group sold it for $10 million to Lower East Side property management company Better Living. Capital Property Partners’ Daniel Rahmani, Michael Saidian and Rubens Jourdan represented both sides in the deal.

A $2 million renovation is set to be wrapped up by the end of 2020, creating two ground floor retail spaces, one of which may become a Hell’s Angels tribute museum. [New York Post] — Georgia Kromrei
