One of Gary Barnett’s longtime deputies is leaving Extell Development after more than two decades at the prolific builder.
Raizy Haas, Extell’s senior vice president of development, has made plans to step down, sources told The Real Deal.
It’s not clear what Haas plans to do next or who will take over her duties at Extell. But one source said she will stay on through the rest of the year.
Barnett confirmed Hass’ plans to leave but did not comment further.
“We wish her good luck,” he said.
Haas did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
She has been at Extell since 1999, according to her LinkedIn profile.
A native of Brooklyn’s Borough Park, Haas never attended college and her first job was managing an office building in the Diamond District.
It was there she met Barnett, who brought her on to Extell, where she now oversees design, sales and marketing. She’s worked on the firm’s most iconic projects including One Manhattan Square, the Orion and the International Gem Tower.
Extell earlier this year hired former Westbrook Partners COO Sush Torgalkar as the company’s new president and CEO. Torgalkar is tasked with growing the company’s business amid a broader slowdown in the housing market.
