Ed Sheeran is saying “Goodbye to you” to a Brooklyn Heights apartment that’s inching closer to the borough’s rental record.
A unit at Toll Brothers’ Pierhouse property is back on the market for $38,000 a month, slightly more than the $36,000 the pop star leased it for last year — a price tag that made it the borough’s most expensive rental in 2023.
The new price brings it closer to the dollar figure that’s reigned atop the market for almost two years. A penthouse at 67 Livingston Street, also in Brooklyn Heights, set the borough rental record after scoring a lease for $40,000 a month.
Pierhouse is a two-building project adjacent to Brooklyn Bridge Park, developed by a partnership with Starwood Capital Group. Sales launched in 2014, and the property quickly notched borough records, with the first 40 of 106 units selling for an average of $1,800 per square foot and a penthouse trading for $10.6 million.
The apartment previously occupied by Sheeran last sold for $6 million in 2018, according to the Wall Street Journal, but the identity of the owner is unclear.

The four-bedroom apartment comes fully furnished with a private roof deck overlooking the East River, Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge.
New York rents have softened overall in recent months, but listing agent Sarah Williams of Societe Real Estate said low inventory is keeping demand for luxury rentals high.
“People want a turnkey product, and they’re willing to pay a premium,” Williams said.
