There were nearly 30 residential home sales worth $5 million or more in New Jersey last year.
The Real Deal scoured the records of the state’s major counties to compile a list of New Jersey’s biggest home sales for 2023. Of the 57,000 home sales collected, 28 were for $5 million or more.
Sea Girt Borough in Monmouth County had the most, with five $5 million-plus deals.
But you have to go a few miles up the Jersey Shore to find the priciest home sale of the year.
The tiny seaside enclave of Allenhurst Borough just north of Asbury Park took that prize at the start of 2023 with the $12.75 million sale of 1 Cedar Avenue, an eight-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom home right on the beach.
Farther north, in the Bergen County borough of Alpine, a six-bedroom home at 8 The Esplanade took second place with an $11.4 million sale.
The third-priciest sale takes us further inland to 349 Crestmont Road in Essex County’s Cedar Grove Township, which went for $9.5 million.
A seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom mansion at 7 Hemlock Drive in Alpine sold for nearly $8.2 million to take fourth place, edging out a similarly sized house at 65 South Boulevard in Monmouth County’s Spring Lake Borough that sold for an even $8 million, rounding out the top five.
