Brooklyn’s Domino Sugar Refinery secures cannabis dispensary tenant

Gotham signed 10-year lease in the luxury commercial space

Domino Sugar Refinery secures 10 year lease in Brooklyn retail space

The redeveloped Domino Sugar Refinery is getting into the weeds.

Cannabis dispensary Gotham signed a 10-year lease for 4,000 square feet of the ground floor at 300 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, at the converted Domino Sugar refinery, Commercial Observer reported.

Gotham is a licensed retail cannabis dispensary that has been in operation less than one year, and is led by angel investor Joanne Wilson. It opened its flagship location at 3 East Third Street in the East Village last year with nonprofit partner Strive.

The Williamsburg property is Gotham’s second location. Wilson told the Observer it was a “dream location.”

Landlord Two Trees Management did not disclose the rent. Market rent in the Williamsburg area can range from $88 up to $240 per square foot, according to LoopNet data. Two Trees’ Bonnie Campbell served as the broker for both sides.

The 150-year-old Domino Sugar factory is distinct from many other retail locations, with its 460,000-square-foot glass dome, retro “Domino Sugar” sign and stunning views of Manhattan.

When Two Trees Management purchased the Domino property in 2012 for $185 million, it originally intended it for condo development, but switched to Class A office space, The Real Deal reported at the time.

Ultra-luxury properties in Brooklyn have been struggling to secure tenants that are looking to establish headquarters locations. Equinox was the first tenant in the Domino property in late 2023.
